witchblade: (All I ever wanted)

My MSSL Review will be a little late because I haven't finished downloading the files and I have a lot of work to do ^^;; So yeah here is the first part of my top list series for this year.

2007 is coming to an end and everyone are almost making their own top list for this year (and I'm not exempted from this) I know I'm not good at ratings but I'll try my best here.

Here are my Top 10 "Most Respected/Talented" artists. Hmm.. I think I can consider this as all-time hall of famers LOL XD

They may not have the looks that most fangirls are looking for but I do have a high regard of respect for these singers as they have great talents and/or amazing personalities.

Male Artists

10. Ken Hirai
- Even if people are scrutinizing his looks as a gaijin Japanese and his sexuality, the hell I care! Talent is not equal to looks nor sexuality. He is really amazing at live performances and I totally enjoyed Ken's Bar (which I'm looking forward for this year). He also have good comic sense as he "impersonate" some artists on his concert like ARASHI. LOL on his last Ken's Bar, he said that he admires ARASHI and he even sang a few lines of Kitto Daijoubu!

9. CHEMISTRY
- I really love their ballads and actually I have appreciated them more when I watched their live performances. Hmm, I think for me they are the male counterparts of ayaka that no matter how boring their songs are if they sing it live it is amazing! ^__^;; Plus Douchin is really so wacky off cam as he is a self-confessed video games addictus.

8. Full of Harmony
- Like their names imply, they are a group Full of Harmony. Their songs are really chocolates for my ears *___* I don't know much of this group as infos about them are so rare, but I really love their music and I want to grab their whole discography.

7. The Gospellers
-
I have to thank [profile] gaily_girl for introducing this great acapella group to me. They have great voices as they can blend with each other and with other artists. My friend, Lena, have watched them live and they amazed everyone how well they perform live (and you know that one of my guilty pleasures in a singer is how well they perform live). I want them to collaborate with ayaka/CHEMISTRY/DBSK in the near future.

6. Monkey Majik
- I admire them for being one of the gaijins who don't fear to break-in in the world of Japanese music. Blaise and Maynard are really talented both in singing and composing. Plus haha their Utaban episode was really so funny!! I wish that they continue their streaks in Japanese music.

5. Wada Masaya
- Like Full of Harmony, his voice are like chocolate for my ears. *O* I am just sad that only a few people appreciates the songs he sings. What is more amazing for him is how he is involved in the "back scenes" of  Japanese music. FYI, he composed/produced/arranged a lot of songs for other artists more than for his own. Another thanks to [profile] gaily_girl for introducing this great man to me. (I'm now saving to buy his 2nd album :D)

4. m-flo
- as we all know, m-flo have collaborated with a lot of artists (especially Verbal). I really got to thank them for expanding my music horizon with all their collaborations. m-flo are very talented duo as they compose, produce, arrange and mix their own songs. They also have their own recording studio. LOL they are well known for some "weird collaborations". If you read/look Verbal's blog, he is really so wacky off cam! And haha just like melody. said on J-melo, they are really good people :D

3. Atsushi of EXILE
- as I'm getting more and more into EXILE, I'm discovering the whole group as well. Now, I know why my husband has a high respect for Atsushi. Aside from his voice, he is really so nice off cam (thank you for supporting my husband). He is also so talented as he compose a lot of songs for EXILE and COLOR. He is also so awesome that despite of the problems of EXILE last year, he didn't abandon the group and go on as a solo artist. On one interview, I think it was said that he composed Inori for a movie without any talent fee *O*

2. Alex of Clazziquai Project
-
This guy has the voice and body that girls would want to take home. He is really so nice especially for their fans as he always accommodate them and giving a warm smile. His voice is just amazing both in record and in live *O* (Imagine he can do those vocalizations on live too xP) I also admire him for his love of working with other artists (to date he already have 11 songs that he is the featuring artist, that is short enough to pull out his solo album). One thing that I can wish for Alex is that for his solo album to be released sometime soon ^^

1. Sakurai Kazutoshi of Mr.Children
-
I think of him as one of the music genius in Japanese music industry. Like his compositions are very wide in range. I think he is the only one who dared to make a song regarding the Japanese government, death and subjects that most people won't dare to touch. I also admire him as a great live performer. LOL Imagine pulling out people to sing their songs *O* Sugoi desu ne? And I know now why he/Mr.Children is well loved by Japanese people, it's because they give back something to the people. FYI, Sakurai, Kobayashi and Sakamoto, founded ap bank which aims to provide fundings for the society and environment. As of a matter of fact, Sakurai is very open about money issues. The money earned for AP Bank festival don't go to their pockets but for the bank. But this year, ap bank festival was not that successful because of the typhoon. Also Sakurai/Mr.Children donated one part of their concert earnings to the victims of earthquake in Niigata. I wish more artists will join them in helping others. Another FYI, is that they were featured in TIME magazine as one of the heroes of environment. Also one good part of him is that he composed songs for a good cause like the "Red Ribbon ~umarekuru no kodomotachi no tame ni~"

(Why Takahiro is not on this list? It's because he is on my "ultra fangirl side" haha LOL I can't explain this that much but he is more of the "love" than with "recognition". Hmm... my top and favorites artists are also these people but in a different order plus some more singers . This is just a rank how I respect their talents and personalities)

For the female artists:

10. Yoshika
-
another candy for our ears.. *O* She's very well loved by the m-flo family as one of their onee-chan. I wish Yoshika will be back in releasing songs.

9. Onitsuka Chihiro
- OMG her voice is sooooooo *speechless* haha she is really an amazing singer. She is one of the singers that I put in "no need to watch live perfs to appreciate". I'm glad that she's back in releasing songs as Jpop needs some breed of talented female singers instead of those kiddy and screechy female artists >___>

8. Emi Hinouchi
- some may not like her voice but lately she's singing good especially after I watched her with m-flo. FYI, 4 songs in COSMICOLOR are her co-composition with m-flo (Summer Time Love, Love Don't Cry, Luvotomy and Simple and Lovely). She's really one good artists. Also Verbal told in his blog that Emi is such a darling off cam ^^

7. Horan of Clazziquai Project
- I can't imagine any more female singers that can match up Alex voice except Horan (although he had collaborated with other female artist still his best singing partner is Horan) Also Horan is very intellectual woman, as she has a nick "Queen of Logic" I really like her style and elegance. What I wish for her is that she and Alex will be a real couple

6. Utada Hikaru
- I guess I don't need a lot of words to describe how well respected Hikki is in the Japanese music industry. I can't wait for her to release her Japanese album more than her English album.

5. mink
- Another underrated artist. She should have release all those cover songs because those are really amazing (haha she can replace Mika Nakashima's Yuki no Hana with her own version) LOL their Bokura no Ongaku episode was so funny because Kumi and LISA didn't dare to sing a live collab song with her (of course they will fall flat on their faces with mink's voice)

4. Angela Aki
-
I really admire how she plays piano and sings at live perf at the same *O* I'm glad Angela is getting the recognition she deserves. She's also one of those singers who are very warm and friendly (like the way she called ayaka as ayaka-chan and invited her to sit beside her during one of those Music Station episode)

3. AI
- She is really one good performer to watch on live as she never lets her audience to be bored. Although she has some weird fashion sense, but still she's a darling on live perf like Yuna Ito said in one of the interviews. She also got a nice personality (LOL I can't forget the Hey3x special where she joked on V6's backflip)

2. BoA
- although her music is going on downhill and some reported bitchy attitude, I still can't help to admire her as a person and performer for keeping up those years of pressure. I know she really deserves to take a little break now. Also to those who watched m-flo concerts, Verbal always regarded her as "sugoi na hito (wonderful person)" On one interview, Verbal admired BoA who is very dedicated to her work like when they were recording Love Bug and it was BoA's height of career in Korea. BoA was juggling in between Japan and Korea and she didn't complain when they were recording Love Bug that she is tired and they (BoA and m-flo) have good bonding moments. And I think on Cosmicolor tour, she was not supposed to be there but for m-flo she met the odds and went there and perform. Also SEAMO find BoA as a nice girl haha that he was just nervous looking at her. So yeah more than the silly rumors, I believe more on what other artists view of her ^^

1. ayaka
-
She is just 20 and yet an amazing singer and a talented girl!!!!!!! LOL I love how melody described her on J-melo as a "diva on stage" Also aside from being a good singer, she got an amazing personality. I love how open she is as a fan of Mr.Children that during ap bank festival 2007, she said that it was a dream come true to share the stage with them ^^ (I deleted that recording though >___>) Awww I really want her to collaborate with Sakurai! I wish for her more and more years to come as a singer :D I love how other artists want to perform with her (I wouldn't mind another song with Kobukuro, Gospellers, and Sukima Switch)

Don't you just love the Top 10 lists??? ahaha

See you next time for another part of this top 10 lists.. :D

Yeah they were, I think I have uploaded their portion in this page LOL it was really one funny but with some eww talk xD

Well these people are not actually indie people but more of underrated and they have less exposures (also more active on live gigs than TV performances) I'm more of JR&B more than really Jpop. R&B music is always my fallback during the times I get tired of pop and rock.

Really? I didn't know that she guested on CTKT (as well I don't watch that one regularly). She is sometimes too outgoing/bubbly on cam that you could be annoyed. but I've read a fan report on JPM (who met her recently) and she's really nice and pretty according to that forumer. AI pawned that Oggi perf *O*
